Why play traveling soccer at BSC
The BSC traveling program is a unique blend of competitive soccer and
quality training in a fun environment with a family touch. The BSC
program includes the most desirable aspects of traveling soccer (e.g.,
professional training, tournament play and optional in-door seasons) at
an affordable cost. The reason we can maintain our affordable
pricing is our relationship with the award winning Bolingbrook Park
District. The BPD provides our exceptional outdoor training
facility which includes 6 fields (4 lighted) and a dedicated
concessions/headquarters building at the main campus plus 4 additional fields and concessions
building at our west campus. This
arrangement removes field costs which contributes significantly to the
cost of many clubs.
In addition, BSC is a not-for-profit organization. Our board of
directors and all of our coaches are volunteers. This allows us to spend
our reasonable fees on the most important part of the program: the players.
100% of our fee goes toward training costs, league fees, referees, equipment and
the kids*. All of our coaches are volunteers and are involved
because they enjoy what they are doing. Most coaches have children who
play on the teams and are doing this for the love of the game. However,
all of our coaches have been licensed by the IYSA. Most coaches have
extensive soccer experience and all teams have additional professional trainers.
The club's quality training, caring and fun atmosphere has also
generated very good results. Our girls program has teams ranging
from the A/B to C levels in the IWSL. Our boys program has teams
ranging from classic to white in the NISL. In addition, three of our teams
have recently won the IWSL team sportsmanship award. Two of those teams also won their division the same
season. The combination of traditional success and excellent
sportsmanship is something the club is very proud of.
Lastly, BSC hosts an annual Labor Day Soccer Festival. This
tournament is held at the Lily Cache fields on Labor Day weekend.
The 2008 event drew 115 teams from near and far.
The tournament is a showcase for traveling soccer right in
Bolingbrook. The fields are converted to tournament format
complete with large tents for expanded concessions, soccer retailers,
sponsors and guest seating. In addition to being an energized
weekend, the tournament provides a vehicle for the BSC traveling teams
to raise additional funds through volunteerism. All of
the profits from the tournament are donated directly to the traveling
teams and spent on the players. Each team's donation is determined by the volunteer effort
contributed to the tournament.
Please see our registration page
for details about try-outs for the '08-'09 year.
For comparison, the following chart was created showing BSC
traveling compared to a few neighboring soccer programs (Club names
removed, but other club numbers accurate for the '06-'07 year -- so they have all
gone up. The BSC cost shown are for '08-'09). In addition, a comparison to the
BSC in-house program is provided.

Here are some important questions to consider when choosing a soccer club:
What is the club/team's priority (winning, player
improvement, fun, some combination)?
-
How many practice sessions does the team have and
where?
-
Who will run the practice sessions?
-
What tournaments does the team plan on playing?
-
Is there extra cost associated with the
tournaments (e.g., transportation, hotels, additional coaching
fees)?
-
Are the players required to purchase additional
team gear (e.g., warm-ups, back pack, ...)?
-
Are lighted facilities available and is there
extra cost associated with them (this is more important in Fall when
it gets dark earlier)?
-
How is the turn over at the club in terms of
trainers, coaches and players?
